CEI 79-3:2024: your sites’ event history, always in order

CEI 79-3 puts strong emphasis on documenting intrusion alarm systems and reducing false alarms. Nexalarm collects the events that panels notify by email and makes them searchable by site, type and period.

Documenting by hand, site by site, does not scale

CEI 79-3 is the Italian Electrotechnical Committee standard with the requirements for designing, installing and maintaining intrusion and hold-up alarm systems in Italy. The 2024 edition, in force since 1 January 2025, replaces CEI 79-3:2012.

The revision aligns the Italian standard with the European EN 50131 series on intrusion and hold-up alarm systems, adopted in Italy as CEI EN 50131-1: it takes over its terminology and classification and includes parts of the CLC/TS 50131-7 application guidelines.

If you install and maintain dozens of sites, knowing what happened at each one is the basis of the job: recurring faults, tampers, frequent alarms that may point to a problem. When events are scattered across apps and emails, piecing them together takes hours.

How it works

Up and running in three steps

  1. 01

    Collect events in one place

Connect the mailbox that receives notifications from your panels, of any brand. Every event is stored with site, type, brand, date and time.

  2. 02

    Find what you need

Filter by customer, event type and period to prepare a maintenance visit, answer a customer or spot a site with too many alarms.

  3. 03

Keep track of who did what

With the audit log (from the Professional plan) every user action is recorded with date, author and details.

What you get

  • A structured event history for every site, searchable in seconds.
  • Recurring faults and alarms are easier to spot, supporting the reduction of false alarms.
  • An audit log of user actions, useful for GDPR too.
  • Data hosted in the EU and isolated per company.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Nexalarm make my system compliant with CEI 79-3?

No. Compliance depends on how the system is designed, installed, commissioned and maintained. Nexalarm helps you keep the events notified by your panels organised and searchable, as support for your documentation.

How long are events kept?

It depends on the plan: from 7 days (Free) to 60 days (Business). With Enterprise the history length is agreed based on your needs.

Does it work with panels from different brands?

Yes. Nexalarm works with any panel that sends email notifications: Inim, Bentel and Tecnoalarm have ready-made filters, and for the others you create custom rules.

How does CEI 79-3 relate to EN 50131?

EN 50131 is the European series of standards on intrusion and hold-up alarm systems, adopted in Italy as CEI EN 50131. CEI 79-3:2024 aligns with this series and with the CLC/TS 50131-7 guidelines and sets the Italian requirements for designing, installing and maintaining systems. Nexalarm is not a component of the alarm system and is not covered by the classification of these standards: it collects the email notifications your panels already send.

Where can I find the text of the standard?

The standard is published by CEI (Comitato Elettrotecnico Italiano) and is available on its website. This page is only an informal summary.

Informal summary: the official text of CEI 79-3:2024 is the reference for its requirements. Nexalarm does not certify the compliance of alarm systems.
